Even in turning aside
from the myth
to the occasional, I could
not lose the pretence
that I
was somehow laying
power aside,
as if I had ever felt, in
reality, the sense
that could
comb through matter,
or as if
any reality of power lay
in the remembrance
of sites,
the still names.
