In my country
Fidelity to a cause
Is a sign of an unpleasantness
Of odours. Of a particular smallness
Perhaps?
No matter.
It indicate stupidity.
A man of few possessions. A man
Who prefers the company of goats.
I am suspicious of it,
This fidelity. Please,
Wash your hands.
Settle yourself afresh.
I will have food served.
But if we are to become business partners
I must have access to one of them. Either
Your wife or the eldest of her daughters.
It is your decision, of course
